We Are One!

by Lester Young

Let’s just go ahead and cut to the chase today. I don’t want you to ever fall prey to thoughts or feelings of inadequacy, inability, inferiority or unworthiness. Don’t even let the devil talk you into bouts of loneliness. Because, if you’re in Christ Jesus, you’re none of those things. Not a single one of those pitiful conditions can accurately be attributed to any born-again believer in Jesus. Why? Because all of those things have their origins in the kingdom that’s ruled by spiritual darkness, more commonly known as this world. And you and I (though still physically putting in time on this planet) have been removed from that realm and severed from all of the devil’s power, and ushered into the Kingdom of God’s dear Son (Colossians 1:13) – the Kingdom that’s the source of all Light (John 1:4, 9).

Think about light and darkness for a moment. How are they described or defined? We think of light as ‘illumination,’ ‘brightness,’ ‘clarity,’ ‘understanding,’ ‘being able to see,’ and so forth. Now, try describing darkness in its own terms. Basically, it can’t be done, can it? Darkness can only really be defined as ‘the absence of light.’ (Along those same lines, one might also equate it to a ‘lack of knowledge’ [Hosea 4:6].) Furthermore, the two (light and darkness) absolutely cannot coexist in the same place at the same time. It just won’t happen. You can’t open up a container of darkness, pour it on a flame and extinguish the light. However, as soon as you light a match in a pitch-black room, the light overwhelms that thick darkness and causes it to flee away. Wherever that light goes, it pushes the darkness back – with ease (John 1:5).

Now, consider what the Lord’s done for us, and all the benefits His shed blood has bought for us (Psalms 103 and 112). Take a good, long look at the promised blessings of Abraham (Deuteronomy 28:1-13), which have also been extended to us (Galatians 3:13-14). Those words are God’s Light to us (John 1:1, 4), and they have the power to separate us from any darkness, because they are the absolute Truth (John 17:17). Jesus is that Light (John 1:9); and if He’s dwelling in our hearts (Ephesians 3:17), not only are we never alone, we also don’t have to worry about getting by on our own abilities. His Anointing will teach us what we need to know and get us wherever we need to be (2 Corinthians 12:7, 11, 18; 1 John 2:27; Luke 4:1: Romans 8:14). We simply need to take Him at His Word (Luke 18:17), take His Word personally, and remember that we are one with Him!

You don’t have to buy that garbage the devil’s whispering in your ear. But if you do find yourself starting to swallow it, recognize that it’s because you’re paying attention to the wrong set of facts. (There’s a big difference between facts and truth!) Go to the Holy Scriptures and get God’s Truth about you and your circumstances…run to Him, quickly! Then wheel around and run up on the devil like you’re ’bout to do something…and then do it. Tell him, “Boy, you must not know who you’re foolin’ with…I’ve got the Lord Jesus Christ with me, so you’d better walk soft – on your way out!”

Believe me, the devil knows exactly Who he’s dealing with. What he’s really trying to find out is if you do.
