Get the Hell Out!

by Lester Young

Hey, wait a minute!  I wasn’t talking to you.  Well, I was, actually; but not that way.  Let me explain what I mean…

Do you know that if you’ve made Jesus Christ the Lord and Savior of your life, you’ve been made over as a totally new creation?  Do you realize that you’re now an all-new formation from the hands of God; a never-before-in-existence, one-of-a-kind fabrication?  Everything about you is fresh and new (2 Corinthians 5:17).  The implications are staggering!  It means that even if you’ve never succeeded at anything before in your miserable, moribund, muttonchop life (thanks for the line, Jack Sparrow) – even if you’ve been called a loser and a failure so many times that your picture has miraculously materialized in the dictionary under each of those terms – that track record literally no longer applies to you.  Think about it – from now throughout eternity, your victory and success are always assured in Christ Jesus! (Deuteronomy 28:8, 12; 2 Corinthians 1:20, 2:14)

Well, I don’t look or feel very successful!  I knew you were going to say that.  And therein, by the way, lies the vast majority of the problem.  Are you looking at and judging things (including yourself) by outward appearances, as Paul warned against? (2 Corinthians 10:7)  Proverbs 23:7 says, “As [a person] thinks [or estimates, esteems] in his heart, so is he.”  So, who and what do you really think you are, in your heart of hearts?  How do you see and regard yourself and your circumstance?

Listen, God Himself has said, “Your past – and the sins of it – are completely gone; from now on, you’re the victor, kid!” (Zechariah 3:4; 1 Corinthians 15:57; Colossians 2:13-14)  And He can’t lie; because not only is His Word true, it’s Truth itself (John 17:17; Hebrews 6:18).  So, if the Lord Almighty says those things to us, the best thing we could possibly do is to get our thoughts and words in line with His.  Because if we don’t, if we look around at our natural circumstances and draw our conclusions based on them and our own natural feelings, what we’re actually doing is standing up and setting ourselves against God’s knowledge – making our words stout (obstinate and withstanding) and a prideful barrier against Him (Malachi 3:13; 2 Corinthians 10:5).  And, let’s just say it like it is: how stupid can a body be, to blatantly stand against God?

So, instead of looking at your condition and agreeing with it (by talking the things that you see), look at it and agree with the Word of God instead (Romans 4:17).  Look squarely at the ‘facts’ of your situation, and tell everything that is not lining up with God’s picture of total salvation for us (that is, spirit, soul and body) – as laid out in the Bible – to get in line with it!  The Blessing of Abraham is ours through Jesus Christ – it belongs to us.  So command everything else – every last bit of the curse that’s from Satan and the pit of Hell – to get out of your life, your family and every matter that applies to you!

We’ve been given the total victory that Jesus won and the authority to enforce it (Psalm 149:8-9; 1 Corinthians 15:57; Ephesians 4:8; Colossians 2:15).  We have that honor from God; but we must believe that we actually do possess it, and we must exercise the faith to use it boldly.  You have dominion; you give the orders in your life (Genesis 1:28). So you tell the devil to pack up all his garbage and get every bit of that ‘Hell’ out of your life – then watch the power of Christ in you drive it all away! (Isaiah 41:15-16; 2 Corinthians 12:9)

  1. Amen, preach it, brother! We need to recognize our authority in Christ and use that authority to vanquish the enemy’s operations against our lives.

    • Yeah…we tend (me included) to forget that fact sometimes, and get caught waiting on God to ‘do something.’ And, much more often than not, He’s sitting there waiting on us for the exact same purpose. The Lord really has won the complete victory…all we’re called to do is enforce it. Thanks so much for your encouragement, Dee!

  2. Another excellent post, Lester. I’m just reading a book called “Free at Last” by Tony Evans. He explains that all of the promises of God are ours through grace and everyone has been given the same measure of grace. The thing which distinguishes those who live the promises and those who don’t is that five-letter word you speak of – Faith. Faith requires a response on our part. And it also makes a difference where our faith rests. We must learn to believe what God has said rather than what our eyes see and our ears hear. The flesh deceives, but God cannot lie.

    • Absolutely right…we all have God’s promises, but it’s really up to us individually whether we’ll receive them or not. And studying the problem, the dark, will never bring us to light. Studying the solution, God’s promises of salvation and blessing, will bring the light, because they are Light. Thanks as always, Diane!
