Who Are You?

It’s something we almost exclusively only ask other human beings. But the most important, revealing and truthful answer we can receive from the question “Who are you?” only comes when we ask it to ourselves.

So then, what’s your response? Who are you, exactly? Let me qualify that a bit, because I’m directing this to born-again believers only: Do you know who you are, really? Hollow Accusations

Have you ever been accused of anything – anything at all? Okay, have you ever been accused of anything – whether you actually did it or not – by somebody whose own reputation is… shall we say, ‘significantly less than stellar’ themselves? Not only does it automatically take some of the bite out of the allegation, it typically also has the effect of just irritating the crap out of you, doesn’t it? You know the attitude that invariably rises up on the inside: “Well just who the %*&# do they think they are, pointing their fat little sausage finger at me, after all the **** they’ve been doing!?” …or something to that effect.

On a somewhat related note, do you know what the name ‘Satan’ means? Being one of the most appropriate and spot-on appellations to be found in the Bible, it literally means “the opponent, the adversary, the accuser“. And that’s exactly what Satan is: the accuser of the brethren. It’s what he does – all day, every day (Revelation 12:10). Or perhaps I should say, “It’s what he did.” Now that’s not to say he no longer accuses, because he can’t help himself: he can’t deny his nature (John 8:44). But we do need to be keenly aware of something very important that’s greatly affected how and where he does it. Continue reading

The Proof is (in) the Provision

Let me ask you something: Would you join the military if they told you you’d have to pay your own way? Would you agree to it if you had to pay for your own training, your own tank, your own airplane, your own ship, your own truck, your own gun, your own barracks, your own uniform, your own food and your own medical care if you got hurt in the line of duty? And then you gotta take orders from somebody on top of that?? Not really the best of deals, in my humble opinion. Continue reading
